Letter from the Head of School

Welcome to Christ Episcopal School, “the little school with a big heart.” In my ten years at the school, both as a teacher and administrator, I have seen the positive impact our teachers, community, and ethos have on our children. We instill a respect for learning and for people that serves them for the rest of their lives. Countless alumni students have returned over the years to tell us the impact that Christ Episcopal School had on their early formation. They feel prepared for whatever life throws their way, and they know they have the confidence to make thoughtful, meaningful decisions as they forge their path forward. The strength of our school lies in the following key values that permeate every aspect of our school life:

  • 1.

    Academic excellence and engagement

Our teachers work here because they love what they do, and they are valued by the community. They provide creative, interactive lesson plans and give students individualized attention in our small classes (10:1 ratio). Students feel valued and encouraged to participate in a judgement-free space where relationships thrive. Our students excel in most academic benchmarks and attend the best independent schools and public school magnets after they graduate.

  • 2.

    Warm, inclusive community

Because we are a small independent school, our families enjoy close relationships with teachers, administrators, and other families. We welcome the support and involvement of all of our families, from helping form committees to address and solve school issues to putting together fun social events for the class groups. We learn to appreciate the differences between us, and gain new perspectives from diverse people and thoughts. We work together as a small village and those lasting bonds we form are precious.

  • 3.

    Values-driven character education

As an Episcopal school, we base our values on our Christian foundation. We are intentional about our character development, using our Episcopal roots as the guideline for our character traits. Students are supported to follow our Cardinal Character program that highlights traits such as responsibility, generosity, kindness, perseverance, and more. We are encouraged to demonstrate good character in all aspects of our lives, supported by special programs such as our Chapel partners where middle school students are paired with lower school students, our monthly Cardinal Character traits, and our various service projects throughout the school.

If you are seeking that small school environment where each child is seen and heard, Christ Episcopal school is the home for you. We encourage you to speak to our parents, both current and alumni, to understand what is so special about us. I welcome the opportunity to speak with you personally if you want further information. Your child will thrive here where we nurture, as our motto says, “Minds to Learn, Hearts to Love, and Hands to Serve.”
